Workforce Development Board Committee
Meeting the N.C. High Performing Local Workforce Development Board Standards is
the priority for the Cumberland County Workforce Development Board (WDB).
Members of the board and staff have met on several occasions to review the
board’s goals, objectives and committee structure. With the suggestions made at
these meetings, the board revised its committee structure to better position
itself with an emphasis on their strategic workforce responsibilities. Following
are the board committees and their primary responsibilities:
-
Business Services Committee –
Responsible for the delivery of
coordinated outreach to
businesses in our community.
This committee will have a
sub-committee that will report
to the Chair of the Business
Services Committee and will be
responsible for conducting
surveys of business and industry
to determine their needs and in
turn help workers attain the
skills needed to find good jobs
at good wages.
-
Executive Committee –
Responsible for an
accountability system that
builds the capacity of the
Cumberland County WBD.
-
Communications/Community
Relations Committee –
Responsible for promoting
workforce development success
and the role of the Cumberland
County WDB. It works to increase
awareness of the workforce
system within the community.
Programs/JobLink Career Center Committee – Responsible for ensuring that the
center meets chartering responsibilities, the preparation of the annual
Workforce Investment Act (WIA) plan, reviewing application for potential
training providers and on-going continuous improvement of the JobLink Career
Center.
